DARYL HANCE: Florida Rock n Roll Music
Mark your calendars and get your freak-out gear on because on Friday, November 21st, Jacksonville, Florida-based singer/guitarist/songwriter Daryl Hance returns to Crawfordville for an 8pm show at the Palaver Tree Theater.
He is out supporting his latest release, last year’s Devil’s Millhopper, which has been described as “a swamp-goth noir psychedelic blues-holler masterpiece”.
Devil’s Millhopper is a fiery blend of old-school 1960s and 1970s guitar-driven groove rock-and-roll, phased-out psychedelic soul, and uncut Northeast Florida swamp funk and inland blues.
Some folks may remember Daryl’s distinctive guitar and slide sound as a defining component in early Mofro as the original guitarist and long time songwriting partner of JJ Grey before venturing out on his own in 2010.
Since his departure, he has channeled a more robust and refined version of that same greasy guitar goodness into four well-acclaimed pretty stellar independent albums - Hallowed Ground (2011), Land Of Trembling Earth (2014), Wild Blue Iris (2016), and his latest, Devil’s Millhopper, (2024).
